Congrats to the Mediapolis students who performed at the SEISC Vocal Festival!

We had an amazing time celebrating Dr. Seuss week! The week was filled with engaging activities, from immersive reading sessions to exciting dress-up days that sparked creativity. Our students were thrilled to have mystery readers join us, adding an extra element of surprise and fun to our literary festivities. The highlight, however, was seeing families actively participate by coming in to read with us, fostering a love for reading and bonding over timeless stories. It was truly a week filled with joy, laughter, and the magic of Dr. Seuss's imagination.

The Mediapolis Jazz Ensemble has BIG NEWS. They had an outstanding performance on Saturday and placed 2nd at our District Jazz Festival, which means they have qualified to participate at the Iowa Jazz Championships on Tuesday, April 2nd.
Founded in 1976, the Iowa Jazz Championships showcases 60 of the state's finest high school jazz ensembles. It is held in Ames every April and features 15 groups from each of the four Iowa high school classifications. All 60 ensembles perform in the daytime preliminary round, and the top two bands from each classification perform in the evening finals. After a hiatus since the early 2000s, The Mediapolis Jazz Ensemble is thrilled to be returning to this prestigious event.

"They came, they saw, they connected with new stories—and started some of their own. But if your child didn’t make it to the Fair (or they missed out on a favorite), it’s not too late to make your school and your book-crazy kiddo very happy. Your Fair continues online, where you can
get orders shipped home + FREE shipping on book-only orders over $25. Visit our Book Fair Homepage [https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mepo] before March 10th to earn 25% of sales for our school!"

Fifth-grade students are reading the novel "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper whose main character, Melody, has cerebral palsy and is unable to speak. To help the students understand how Melody communicates with her communication device, we asked Mrs. Borrison, Mrs. Rosas, Mr. Hartsock, and some special helpers to come in and present information about AAC or Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
